Yes, the "ri...Those are really good questions. Yes, the "rise" is kind of confusing, especially without pictures. Basically the rise is the crotch, for lack of a more delicate term. In this case, it's the seam going between the legs from the belly button to the center lower back. And no, you don't need any extra fabric for it! As a less than mediocre seamstress myself, I am confused on how you made the rise of the pants - was it a separate cut with extra fabric?
