Jewelry & Art Themed Girls Birthday Party

Easy Crafts for Little Hands

Jewelry Party for a Preschooler

Last week I shared some of my secrets for hosting a Stress-Free Kids Birthday Party, and now, making good on my promise to share the "activities" side of our recent Jewerly & Art Birthday Party, here are 4 more crafts ideas that little ones can participate in. Of course, before they do any of this, you'll make to make sure they're suitably attired in a Cozy Party Crown! ;)

Craft #1: Fruit Loops Bracelets

  • Materials --> Cereal & Pipecleaners: Really, any round cereal with holes. I used generic fruit loops, but I saw later that Whole Foods had an organic version which I wish I had gotten because I'm sure the coloring would have been from a more natural source. There are also a bunch of Cheerios varieties now, too.
  • Process --> Pick a color pattern, slide the loops onto the pipecleaner, then twist the ends together to connect. Super easy!

Craft #2: Miniature Artists {with Authentic Easels & Canvases}

  • Materials: Easels (I got mine here on Amazon), Canvases (I got mine on sale at Hobby Lobby - check the Fine Arts section), Paint Brushes (5 for $1 at Dollar Tree), Washable Tempura Paint (from craft store), Egg Cartons divided in half (to hold the paint), Cups of Water to clean the brushes, and Paper Towels (because someone is going to spill!)
  • Process --> Let 'em paint! Trickiest thing about these is DRYING TIME, so I made sure they did their painting at the beginning of the party. To transport them home, I put a layer of wax paper over the top and stuck them in a plastic bag. Just tell the parents so they can take it all out when they get home. Another option would be to hold onto the canvases at your place until they dry and then distribute them to the kids later.

Craft #3: DIY Clip-on Pom Pom Earrings {or post for the pierced ears}

  • Materials: Earring Posts (I got mine from Michael's), Pom Poms or jewels (any craft store), and Hot Glue
  • Process --> Let the little ones pick their pom pom colors, and then have an ADULT hot glue the pom pom to the post. Make sure the glue is cooled before they put them on!

Craft #4: "Semi-Precious" Plastic Rings ;)

  • Materials: Shiny Plastic Beads (I got mine from Michael's), and Pipe Cleaners (I trimmed them to about 2/3 the regular size)
  • Process: The little ones pick out their colors and slide the beads into the center of the pipe cleaner. Wrap it around their finger, tuck one of the pointing ends into the bead, then use the excess to create a "setting" by wrapping it around the bead. See if you can sneak the end into the bead or you may need to snip it. Either way, make sure you secure that pointy end, and you might want to give parents a heads-up that it's there in case the ring comes untucked after the party. Ours have held up very well, though!

Like I said, these crafts are all so easy, and the little ones will really feel like they're an important part of the process (because they are)! The most important thing is to set up all the stations and materials ahead of time so that when it comes time for them to create, they can start right away!

Hope you're enjoying the party ideas! One more party tutorial post to come (and it's my favorite). Can you guess what it is? Hint: Who knew gingham and pom poms could be such a perfect match? ;)
