Festive Food for the Fourth!

Kids Treats for Fourth of July Festivities

These Firecracker Popcorn Bags are a BLAST (pun intended)!

Red, White, and Blue Desserts

Happy 4th! I don't know how the weather is where you are, but the rain is holding off here, and the kiddos enjoyed some cooler temps for our annual neighborhood parade. And after working hard to put them together this morning, these festive popcorn bags were a huge hit!

Firecracker Popcorn

I created this batch based on a pretty picture that caught my eye on Pinterest. I used Vanessa's (from See Vanessa Craft) recipe for 4th of July Firecracker Popcorn as a starting point, but as I started working, I discovered a technique that made it easier for us.

Basically, I realized I wasn't too adept at the "drizzling" technique (I would call mine more of a "clumping" technique), so instead I put the popcorn in a shallow dish (such as a 9x13" pan) and mixed it all around right in there. I pretty much coated the popcorn that way, which resulted in colors that were more muted, but popcorn that was basically covered in candy ;)

The girls helped me divide the popcorn into individual bags, we threw them all in a cute basket, and headed over to our neighborhood bash.
